The Gift of Skateboarding
This week, Honey Skate Club received a generous donation of 20 skateboards from WeHero and their volunteer board building activity in collaboration with Skate Like a Girl.
We will be passing these boards out to underprivileged girls at an upcoming youth focused skateboarding event in late-March (more details will be announced soon)!
With this incredible donation, the volunteers included a handwritten note for the recipient of each board they built. I wanted to share some of the sweetest and most sincere messages of motivation, because we all could use a little reminders of encouragement as we progress in skateboarding.
“You got this! Don’t give up. Keep getting on the board after every fall. Above all, have fun!”
“You are a wonderful and capable young woman! Have fun on your new board, be adventurous, and try new things even if they seem hard. You can do anything you like!”
“We all came together to assemble these skateboards because we believe in you. Believe in yourself, make great choices and remember to always love yourself. Give yourself the room to make mistakes and learn from them. You can and will do great things in life!”

“To the next X-Games champ and Olympic skateboarder - This board will take you as far as you want it to. Keep your head up and keep riding!!”
“I hope this board gives you the wings to be the best you can be! Never give up!!”

We are so grateful and humbled that Skate Like a Girl recommended us to WeHero to receive these boards - and we are so honored to be able to gift these boards to local girls in need. Pushing the expansion and progression of skateboarding in Houston, one girl at a time.
