Honey Skate Club

“I don’t know of any girl skateboarders in Houston besides y’all,” reveals every single skater friend that I know of.

Now we know that this isn’t true: these girl skaters are around, they have just been… separated. Or disconnected from other local skaters. Or something I’ve heard before is that they don’t have (girl) friends to skate with. 

Whatever the case may be, I’ve realized that there are many female skaters in Houston but a lot of us have just never crossed paths before. And that’s ultimately why we started Honey Skate Club. 

We want Honey Skate Club to be a community where girls, women, non-binary, and LGBTQ+ people can meet other like-minded people. We want Honey Skate Club to be a space where we can share our unique experiences, foster sisterhood, and be creative, in addition to pushing progression in our skateboarding. 

Most importantly, we want Honey Skate Club to be a space where we can express ourselves freely with our friends and without the judgement of others! As women and members of the LGBTQ+ community, we are subjected to societal expectations and gender roles that we might be unaware of but at the end of the day, we just wanna skate!

We have a lot of projects and events coming up this year and we are so excited to share it with y’all! We will continue having our monthly meetups this year where we just skate, mingle, and joke around. We’ll keep this site updated with all the details you need to know.
